AUBURN, Ala.- A portion of the sidewalk on the east side of Gay Street between Tichenor and Magnolia avenues will be closed beginning this week for the protection of pedestrians as construction begins on the AC Hotel's foundation. The closure is expected to last over the next several weeks.

The sidewalk will remain open in front of the AuburnBank building. Signs will be in place at the intersection of Magnolia to detour pedestrians traveling past the AuburnBank building to the sidewalk along the west side of Gay Street.

Pedestrians are advised to use caution in the area.
